Jewelry in summer: our advice

It's summer, dresses and swimsuits are out and so are your gold jewelry! You are probably asking yourself this question: can I swim with my jewelry on? Should I take them off before going to the beach or swimming pool?

Much more accessible than gold jewelry, plated is more fragile because the layer of gold is thin. This is why special care should be given to gold and gold-plated jewelry.

YOUR JEWELRY AT THE BEACH

Before going to the beach, remove your gold, gold-plated or even silver jewelry. Sea water is very corrosive and will damage your jewelry. Sand is also not your friend because the grains can scratch the jewelry on contact. Salty and iodized air can cause jewelry to oxidize, whether it is gold plated, silver or steel.

If you have bathed with your jewelry, remember to rinse it with clean water and let it dry.

YOUR JEWELRY AT THE POOL

Chlorine, a chemical, will attack your jewelry, which is why you should also remember to remove your jewelry before going swimming. These products will weaken the gold layer and alter their shine.

YOUR JEWELRY AND SUMMER SPORTS

Summer is a good time for hiking, cycling and water sports. Our limbs, and particularly our fingers, tend to swell from heat and this can cause discomfort if you wear braces. It is best to remove them during exercise.

Generally speaking, it is not recommended to wear them in the shower because daily contact with soap and water will eventually tarnish the gold layer.
